Under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussayn Holy Shrine, Al-Zahra University for Women celebrated International Arabic Language Day this morning by holding a virtual scientific symposium entitled (Functions of the Arabic Language and its Impact on Refining the Language of Social Communication) with the participation of a group of researchers as well as a large virtual presence of many intellectuals and those who were interested.
The symposium started with the recitation of some verses from the Holy Qur’an famously known to be written in the native Arabic language.
The recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah was dedicated afterwards to all the souls of Muslim martyrs, Iraqi martyrs and the souls of late Arabic language scholars and teachers who have sacrificed all that is precious and valuable in order to reach new levels of knowledge.
It was followed by the Iraqi national anthem and a welcoming speech by the President of Al-Zahra University for Women, Prof. Zaynab Al-Mullah Al-Sultani, who outlined the challenges and risks facing the Arabic language, explaining ways to preserve it, perpetuate its effectiveness and expand its spread.
After that, the research session began its program with reading out the abstracts of the eight research papers and discussing the most significant points that were raised and the results that were ultimately reached, as these researches dealt with different dimensions and important aspects included in this field, especially since the Arabic language is the language of the Holy Qur’an and one of the most widespread languages in the world. This is what made researchers interested in research and study among other things, in order to raise awareness about the history, culture, and development of this language as well as revealing their interest in its valuable vocabulary.
