Department of Mathematics

 An Overview


Through the development of its theories, mathematic sciences and its uses are considered as one of the basic and effective sciences that support the system of scientific progress and education in human societies.

For the sake of its effective role, the Department of Mathematics seeks to prepare students properly and develop their cognitive side, logical and scientific thinking, which helps in understanding, analyzing, deducing as well as linking the different mathematical relationships with each other that would contribute to the development of mathematical theories.

The Department of Mathematics opened its doors ever since the establishment of the University of Al-Zahraa for Women in the year (2018). The department welcomed its first class of female students in the academic year (2019-2020), with the aim of constructing scientific, intellectual and educational intellectuals with enlightened minds, through excessive scientific and intellectual training, paving the way towards the development of the students' mathematical thinking. It also seeks to prepare successful teaching cadres with outstanding scientific and educational competence for the future, and this is achieved through giving them a set of high advantages that aim to achieve the desired goals. Among these desired goals is inserting the fact that mathematics constitutes an essential tie that links between the different sciences, as it is inclusive in all sciences playing an active role in their development.

In fact, one of the definitions of mathematics is that it is simple accumulated information and skills that are logically linked. This logical connection is reflected in the behavior of the students in their public and private lives, and this reflection in turn aims to develop their spiritual faith through mathematical doses that perpetuate and expand their faith.

The Department's Vision

The Department of Mathematics seeks to present a series of distinguished subjects in mathematics that are appropriate to the needs of the job market, in addition to keeping in pace with the global scientific progress.


The Department's Message

Establishing distinguished programs that keep pace with the modern developments in mathematical field by adopting renewable topics that are relatable with advanced scientific and international developments. It also seeks for the qualification of the female graduate students to have them prepared to meet with the needs of the job market. Special attention is provided to advanced students in the hope they will pursue their dreams of reaching higher studies.

The Department's Aims

The department aims at developing a type of admiration within the students of this scientific field, through giving them sufficient ideas about the importance of mathematics and its uses in life,  and thereby having the capability of creating specialized academic staff members to work in the different educational institutions and facilities.

The Department of Arabic

 An Overview

 

On a general note, language is one of the most important natural and social characteristics of humankind, as it is the best way to express the feelings and needs of both the individual and the group. The Arabic language has had the fortune that no other language has witnessed before of both attention and care, because it is the language of the Holy Qur’an, and that in itself is the greatest honor and has given the Arabic language its supreme importance. God Almighty has chosen this language among all the other languages ​​of the earth to give His everlasting speech in a miraculous manner that would amaze those who were and those were yet to come until the Hour of Resurrection shall tick. This miracle is because the Arabic language holds the weight of divine speech and the power of the divine discourse. It is also worth noting that, according to a study at the University of Birmingham conducted to research whether languages ​​will survive or not in the future, that the Arabic language is an immortal language that will never go extinct as time passes by. The Arabic language has features that exist only in this language only that include: (eloquence, synonymy, abundance of vocabulary, symptom science, dilution, free stability, etc. ...).

The Arabic Department at University of Al-Zahraa for Women / College of Education was established in (2018), being the core element of the College and the true pillar of crafting efficient Arabic teachers in both scientific and literary means.

 

The Department's Vision

The Department of Arabic Language seeks to develop a distinguished linguistic cognition for the department's graduates through developing the correct linguistic competence and raising the necessary capabilities that go in line with the requirements of the modern era with the aim to both preserve and advance the means of this language.

 

The Department's Message

The Department of Arabic Language looks forward to prepare instructors who are scientifically and culturally capable and aware of the requirements of the stage, and who are also capable of contributing to help the society to advance, as well as becoming achieving the necessary research, teaching, literary, linguistic and critical competence having thereby various outputs that the job market requires. Graduates would be therefore able to show off their capabilities in (media, teaching, linguistic conscripting and verification, and textual construction).

 

The Department's Aim

The Department of Arabic Language aims to construct specialists in the Arabic language, equipped with the necessary linguistic and literary skills that would enable them to communicate with society, as well as the ability to interact with the different cultural, literary and educational institutions, and developing thereby the students' leadership, creativity and professional personality in the fields of Arabic literature and language.

The Department of English

 An Overview

With the start of the academic year 2019-2020, the English department welcomed a number of 158 students in the undergraduate morning studies only.

 

The Department's Message

 

The mission of the English Department is the preparation of highly qualified and efficient teachers by developing their linguistic, intellectual and research skills in a way to advance their intellectual, cultural and educational levels. It is to meet the requirements of the job market and to have prepared eminent female graduates who are capable of serving and improving the society. The department also seeks to prepare them to be successful researchers who are able to keep pace with the scientific progress through academic research as well as encouraging the interchange, understanding and communication between the different cultures on both internal and external levels. Keeping pace with the changes of the times through the implementation of an integrated educational program is also a concern to achieve high quality standards and use scientific and academic research as a basis for achieving the goals of community development in Iraq.

 

The Department's Vision

 

Being the cornerstone of a reputable college such as the College of Education, the Department of English seeks to take the lead in the fields of teaching and scientific research in English language and literature on both local and regional levels by providing an integrated education in English language and literature. The department also seeks the scientific improvement of its staff members by organizing seminars, language courses and conferences as well as encouraging them to participate internationally to enrich and enhance their scientific experience and research capabilities.

 

The Department's Aims

 

The English Department seeks to achieve the following objectives:

1.     Providing an educational program in the field of English language, its methods of teaching, analyzing its literature, studying its linguistics at a high level of quality and developing it in a sustainable way so as to keep pace with the global developments of its scientific fields.

 

2.     Contributing to the promotion of students’ insights and extending their scientific knowledge that helps them contribute to cultural communication by getting them familiar with the best methods and approaches of language learning, teaching and eventually using them in practical life and scientific research.

 

3.     Creating a scientific and cultural environment that provides students with opportunities for self-development.

 

4.     Providing students with practical experiences and enhancing their critical thinking through training and preparing them for serving the community.

 

5.     Developing the graduates' abilities of self-improvement on the new developments in the field of their specialization in a way that enables them to compete in the job market.

 

6.     Contributing to community service by organizing language courses and workshops in the English language, its teaching methods, literature, cultural studies and translation, in a way that contributes towards the construction of a positive knowledgeable society.

 

7.     Contributing to the continual development of the academic staff in the department and searching for the means to develop and enhance the scientific research within the department in a way that serves scientific research both nationally and internationally.

 

8.     The continuous communication with students to provide them with the necessary guidance as a mission of the department to respond to their needs and closely follow their academic progress.

 

9.     Providing programs that go in concord with the department's priorities in terms of the needs of the students, the university and the local community in general.

 

10.  Upgrading the students' educational skills through lectures and extracurricular activities.

 

11.  Enabling female students to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the various academic and professional fields.

 

12.  Supporting the faculty members to improve their academic and research performance and motivating them to contribute to knowledge on both national and international levels.

 

13.  Encouraging the faculty members to use teaching methods supported by the use of modern technologies to improve the outcomes of a qualified education.

 

14.  Providing and developing the academic curriculum to match the development and advancement of knowledge as well as the needs of the job market.

 

15.  The interest in spreading the university's aims and reaching the best results as it is constitutes the central learning platform.
