During a fact-finding and exploratory tour, British academic and researcher Dr. Chris Hewer visited the campus of Al-Zahraa University for Women, expressing his admiration for the scientific and architectural development that characterises the institution. He also praised the exemplary efforts of the Holy Shrines in championing such enlightened projects that carry profound value. His visit included a tour of the University's avenues and departments to inspect the lecture halls, laboratories, the central library, and other facilities.

During his tour, Dr. Hewer remarked that the University's architecture seamlessly blends an Islamic character with the cultural identity of the holy city upon whose sacred soil it is built. He noted that its establishment provides a clear indication that Imam Hussein Holy Shrine does not merely focus on service, medical, and logistical aspects; rather, providing University education specifically for female students is an integral part of its community commitment and educational mission.

It is worth noting that Al-Zahraa University for Women is the first institution of its kind in Iraq dedicated exclusively to females. It operates under the Department of University Education at Imam Hussein Holy Shrine and received official recognition from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in 2018. The University comprises three faculties: the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Health and Medical Technologies, and the Faculty of Pharmacy. It features 40 lecture halls, 26 scientific laboratories, and two scientific research laboratories, in addition to administrative buildings and dormitories consisting of three blocks, each rising four storeys high.
