Dr. Hassan Hadi Al-Qazzaz, Assistant President of Al-Zahraa (A.S.) University for Women for Administrative and Financial Affairs, participated as a member of the discussion committee for a Higher Diploma thesis at the College of Medicine, University of Karbala. The thesis, entitled “Knowledge and Behavior of Married Couples Attending Newlywed Screening Centers,” was submitted by student Noor Makki Naji.

The study examined the level of knowledge and health-related behavior among married couples attending newlywed screening centers, with particular emphasis on the importance of medical screening and health education in reducing the transmission of hereditary and communicable diseases, especially those associated with consanguineous marriages involving carriers of genetic traits linked to certain diseases.

The study recommended strengthening health education programs and raising public awareness by engaging civil society and religious community leaders. It also highlighted the importance of utilizing social media platforms to disseminate health messages and promote awareness of premarital medical screening, thereby contributing to the prevention and reduction of hereditary and communicable diseases.
