Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa (A.S.) University for Women, met with Dr. Abdolhossein Shahverdi, Director of Royan Institute in Tehran, Iran, to discuss prospects for scientific and research cooperation between the two institutions. The meeting was attended by Dr. Rouhollah Fathi, Deputy for Education and Scientific Programs at the Institute, and Dr. Intisar Jawad Al-Ramahi, representative of the Health and Medical Education Authority of the General Secretariat of the Holy Hussaini Shrine.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of Royan Institute in response to an official invitation and as part of efforts to activate the provisions of the previously signed agreement between Al-Zahraa (A.S.) University for Women and the Institute.

The two sides discussed areas of joint scientific and research cooperation, particularly in stem cells, regenerative medicine, reproductive medicine, and infertility treatment. Discussions also addressed mechanisms for academic coordination and the development of joint research programs and projects, with the aim of promoting the exchange of expertise and benefiting from the scientific and technological capabilities available at both institutions.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the University President and the accompanying delegation toured several departments and research centers at Royan Institute. During the tour, the delegation was briefed on key research projects and activities, as well as the Institute’s specialized scientific capabilities in stem cell research, regenerative medicine, infertility research, and reproductive medicine.

The two sides also discussed preparations for the Fifth WANA International Conference, scheduled to be hosted by the General Secretariat of the Holy Hussaini Shrine. Discussions covered the conference’s scientific and organizational aspects, as well as opportunities for participation and cooperation among the institutions concerned.

Royan Institute is regarded as an advanced research center in biomedical sciences and modern medical technologies. In 2025, it ranked seventh globally in the field of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) and regenerative medicine, further enhancing opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of expertise between academic and research institutions.
