The Department of Radiology Techniques organised a scientific course entitled “Spinal Imaging Techniques and the Causes of Neck and Back Pain.” The said course was delivered by the Lecturer Muhannad Ahmed Sahib.

The course aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of spinal anatomy and diagnostic imaging through the following objectives:

* Providing an overview of the anatomy of the vertebral column and distinguishing between the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral, and coccygeal regions.
* Explaining the use of X-ray imaging in evaluating each region of the spine, as well as other diagnostic procedures employed to identify spinal disorders and the underlying causes of neck and back pain.
* Demonstrating the role of Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in spinal assessment, while highlighting the varying diagnostic sensitivity of each imaging modality and discussing the major pathological conditions associated with neck and back pain.
* Explaining the function and clinical significance of the intervertebral disc and identifying the different stages of disc disorders.

* ⁠Discussing the importance of contrast media in spinal imaging and the clinical conditions that require its administration.

It is worth noting that the Faculty of Health and Medical Techniques continues to organise distinguished scientific courses that contribute to enriching the academic knowledge and practical skills of female students across its various departments.
