Prof.Dr.Ali J’afar Mahdi, Director of Scientific Affairs at Al-Zahraa University for Women, chaired the committee for the defence of a Master’s thesis entitled “Detection of High-Impedance Faults in a Distribution Feeder Based on a Hybrid Technique of Discrete Wavelet Transform and Fast Fourier Transform”. The said event was held at the Electrical Engineering Technical Faculty on Thursday, 24 August 2023.
The thesis addressed high-impedance faults, a common category of faults in distribution networks. Such faults occur when power lines come into contact with high-resistance surfaces, such as tree branches, or when a line breaks and falls, resulting in contact with high-resistance surfaces such as grass, asphalt, or sand.
