Al-Zahraa University has secured a milestone academic achievement by ranking 296th globally in the WURI 2026 World’s Universities with Real Impact rankings. By joining this elite cohort of the top 500 universities worldwide, the institution solidifies its expanding academic footprint on the international stage.

The WURI ranking holds a prestigious position among global university league tables. It transcends traditional benchmarks like standard scientific research and academic publishing, focusing instead on evaluating a university's actual societal impact through innovation, entrepreneurship, and future-ready, adaptive learning. This comprehensive methodology grants highly ranked institutions international credibility and elevated academic recognition.

For ZUW, this placement represents a qualitative leap that bolsters its regional and international standing. It unlocks broader horizons for academic and research partnerships with higher education institutions worldwide, while simultaneously attracting top-tier talent and reinforcing student confidence in the university's educational outcomes.

Commenting on the milestone, University President Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani affirmed that this achievement is the fruitful outcome of extraordinary, concerted efforts and relentless dedication by the faculty and administrative staff. She expressed her profound pride in the determination that propelled the university to this advanced global standard.

Dr. Al-Sultani added that today’s success is merely the beginning, emphasizing that the future will witness an even more impactful and progressive presence. She noted that the university is moving forward with confident strides toward higher echelons that match the ambitions of its staff and students.

Iraq's presence in the WURI 2026 rankings across public and private institutions was highly notable. The University of Babylon claimed the top national spot, followed by the University of Basrah in second place, while Al-Zahraa University for Women secured third place nationally, ranking first among all private universities in Iraq.

This impressive showing elevates the Iraqi academic landscape globally, reflecting a genuine drive to integrate into the international innovation and educational ecosystem. It further supports expectations that these institutions will sustain their upward trajectory in future editions, adding new milestones to the nation's academic status.
