In celebration of the International Day of Mathematics, the Iraqi Al-Khwarizmi Association in Al-Diwaniyah Governorate organised special events for the occasion, inviting a distinguished group of educational and academic figures from Iraqi university professors. The Department of Mathematics within the Faculty of Education at Al-Zahraa University for Women accepted the invitation.

The participating delegation was represented by Dr. Mohammed Al-Mamouri, the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Dr. Saba Al-Khafaji, the Head of the Department of Mathematics. The festival featured diverse contributions from mathematics department students across various universities, as well as secondary school students. Additionally, these activities included a theatrical and historical performance embodying the character of Al-Khwarizmi, poetry segments, and a book fair displaying diverse publications on mathematics topics.

Furthermore, female students from the Department of Mathematics at ZUW presented an exhibition of models, paintings, and manuscripts specialised in mathematical sciences. It is worth noting that the purpose of designating an International Day of Mathematics is to highlight the fundamental role of mathematical sciences in achieving the Sustainable Development objectives set by the United Nations.
