Following years of destruction endured by the University of Mosul, the premier higher education institution in the historic city of Mosul, and amidst an extensive reconstruction campaign that has successfully restored the campus to its former prominence, a delegation from Al-Zahraa University for Women conducted an official visit to the institution. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the President of ZUW, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Zuhair Al-Mankushi, the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, the faculty deans, Dr. Hassan Al-Qazzaz and Dr Azhar Al-Zubaidi, and Dr Wisam Ali, the Head of Public Relations.

During the visit, the delegation met with Prof. Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, the President of the University of Mosul, who spoke on the scale of devastation previously inflicted upon the university by Daesh terrorist groups. He highlighted how collective efforts successfully revived scientific life at the affected institution, reflecting its current prestigious status as a distinguished academic landmark. The University of Mosul has fully regained its stature, currently comprising 24 faculties, 7 research centres, and 6 consultancy bureaux, with a student population reaching approximately 70,000 male and female students from various Iraqi governorates.

For her part, Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani, expressed the delegation’s pleasure with this visit, noting that it aims to restore a domestic balance in inter-university relations across the country's geographical landscape. Despite the numerous challenges faced by the University of Mosul, both parties agreed to establish joint scientific cooperation.

This collaboration serves to deliver a national message, reinforcing the University's role as an institution that unites all segments of Iraq from north to south, whilst strengthening national cohesion, Iraqi fraternity, and societal culture. In turn, Prof. Dr. Al-Ahmadi, expressed his desire to visit the holy city of Karbala, with a particular focus on Al-Zahraa University for Women.

It is worth noting that the University of Mosul is a reputable state university encompassing several counterpart faculties, including the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Education for Women, and the Faculty of Basic Education, which features a Department of Special Education that will be incorporated into the joint cooperation programmes.
