In support of the role of academic institutions in advancing development, Al-Zahraa University for Women, represented by Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Husseini, the Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, participated in the proceedings of the Second Scientific Conference of Karbala Scholars, held at the historic Al-Ukhaidir Fortress in the Holy Governorate of Karbala. The conference was organised by the local government in cooperation with the University of Karbala and attended by a distinguished group of academics and researchers from various Iraqi universities.

The conference aimed to establish an applied scientific environment that contributes to linking the outcomes of scientific research with the needs of society and enables government authorities within the local government, as well as academic and executive institutions, to benefit from studies and research in developing more realistic and effective decisions. This seeks to address existing challenges and make balanced use of available opportunities.

The conference proceedings covered three main tracks reflecting key priorities of the current stage. The first addressed legal and economic aspects by examining ways to strengthen local resources and develop the legislative frameworks governing them. The second focused on social issues affecting community stability, including divorce and electronic extortion. The third discussed Karbala’s identity and ways of preserving its religious character while keeping pace with the requirements of urban development and population growth.

The University’s active participation affirms its commitment to strengthening its academic presence at scientific forums and supporting the advancement of scientific research. It also reflects the University’s recognition of the importance of cooperation between academic institutions and executive authorities in building a knowledge-based society and developing applicable scientific outcomes with tangible practical value, contributing to the improvement of the service and cultural landscape.
