An Administrative Vision Towards Excellence and Development

In a world experiencing rapid digital transformation and the emergence of a knowledge-based economy, the role of universities is no longer confined to the transmission of information; rather, it lies in creating impact and developing innovative solutions. Against this backdrop, the Department of Sciences and Technology Parks at Al-Zahraa University for Women has developed its vision of serving as a genuine bridge between the intellectual contributions of its female students and researchers and the practical and industrial sectors. Through its specialised divisions, our work encompasses the Career Services, which supports graduates’ career readiness and employment prospects; entrepreneurship and the Women’s Technology Incubator, which foster an entrepreneurial mindset; and the commercialisation of scientific outputs. These efforts aim to establish an integrated environment that empowers women academically and technologically. We believe that every scientific study and innovative idea represents an untapped national asset. Our mission is to provide technical and consultancy support to transform these ideas into products and patents that contribute to sustainable development. Our ambition extends beyond graduating qualified female students to nurturing women entrepreneurs and innovators who lead change within society. In pursuing this vision, we draw on the guidance of advisory councils to ensure that our work remains aligned with the highest international professional standards. Together, towards a University that innovates, creates and serves society.

Vision, Message and Goals

About Department

The Department of Sciences and Technology Parks at Al-Zahraa University for Women serves as a key driver of the transition towards the “Fourth-Generation University”, an institution that goes beyond education to create and harness knowledge. The Department provides an integrated, dynamic environment designed to bridge the gap between academic study and the labour market through a specialised operational framework comprising four key divisions: Career Services Division: This division works to develop female students’ skills and enhance their professional readiness, ensuring that graduates meet the needs and expectations of the development sectors. Entrepreneurship Division: This division fosters an entrepreneurial mindset, encourages initiative and supports innovative ideas, helping transform them into successful entrepreneurial ventures. Scientific Outputs Commercialisation Division: This division is responsible for transforming patents and academic research into products and technologies that can be commercialised and generate economic value. Technology Incubator Division: This specialised incubator provides technical and logistical support for projects developed by female students and researchers, with a particular focus on empowering women in technological and engineering fields. Through this integrated approach, the Department seeks to transform the University into a platform for developing innovative solutions and addressing real-world societal challenges. It also draws on the advice and guidance of advisory councils to ensure that these outputs follow appropriate pathways towards achieving sustainable national development.

The Department aspires to become a leading centre of entrepreneurship and a creative platform for transforming scientific knowledge into sustainable technological and economic solutions that empower women academically and professionally and contribute to national development.

Message

To bridge the gap between academic education and the labour market by fostering an environment that encourages innovation and applied research, and by transforming patents and entrepreneurial ideas into products and services that serve society and support the knowledge-based economy.

Goals

1. Technology Transfer and Localisation: Transforming the University’s scientific outputs into practical, user-friendly technologies and facilitating the commercialisation of innovative patents at both local and international levels. 2. Advancing Applied Scientific Research: Directing research efforts towards addressing real-world challenges and meeting community needs, with a focus on translating research findings into tangible solutions. 3. Supporting Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Nurturing the ideas of female students and researchers and transforming them into successful business ventures, including start-ups, while fostering a culture of initiative and self-employment across the University community. 4. Building Partnerships: Strengthening links between the University, industrial sectors and the wider community to ensure that innovations are aligned with market needs.
