Al-Zahraa University for Women welcomed a high-level delegation from Imamia Medics International (IMI) as part and parcel of the ongoing preparations for the organisation’s International Conference in Iraq, scheduled to be held next December in the holy city of Karbala.

The meeting included discussions on the details and scheduling of the scientific sessions to be held as part of the conference, which is expected to attract a distinguished group of international and local physicians, alongside internationally renowned medical figures. The conference will provide an opportunity for the exchange of expertise and engagement with the latest developments in medical sciences.

The organisation’s delegation in Iraq was headed by Dr. Osama Abd Al-Hassan, Head of Imamia Medics International – Iraq, and Dr. Mehdi Rizvi, Head of the Disaster Medicine Department. Additionally, Ms Sakina Rizvi, JD – IMI Special Projects Coordinator, also delivered a detailed presentation on the organisation’s future projects and plans aimed at strengthening scientific and research cooperation.

For her part, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, in the presence of the University’s vices, deans, and the Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, affirmed the University’s commitment to strengthening its medical departments and developing its academic infrastructure in line with international standards. She also emphasised the importance of strengthening partnerships with international medical organisations, supporting scientific publication, and organising specialised training courses and workshops to enhance the competencies of medical and academic staff.

The meeting concluded with an affirmation that the forthcoming International Conference will serve as a leading scientific platform for presenting the latest medical research and discussing key developments in the field. It will also contribute to consolidating Iraq’s position as a regional and international scientific destination, while strengthening the presence of the University as an active academic institution serving the community and the health sector.

It is significant to point out that this visit reflects both parties’ commitment to establishing productive strategic partnerships that support scientific and medical advancement and open new avenues for joint cooperation, thereby strengthening the University’s standing and contributing to the advancement of medical education and research in Iraq.
