Al-Zahraa University for Women welcomed the committee responsible for evaluating the establishment of a new Faculty of Medicine. The committee conducted an inspection visit to the Iraq International Teaching Hospital, affiliated with Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, to undertake a field assessment of the teaching hospital, its scientific capabilities, and available infrastructure, in preparation for completing the requirements for establishing the Faculty in accordance with the standards of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Additionally, the said event comes as part and parcel of the University’s efforts to broaden its academic horizons and introduce specialised scientific majors.

The committee comprised a slew of distinguished professors from Iraqi universities:

* Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawakib Najm Al-Din Abdullah
* Asst. Prof. Dr. Dhafer Abdullah Farhan
* Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Jaber Ab'oub Al-M'mouri
* Asst. Lect. Tamara Mohammed Mahmoud

The committee was received by Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, accompanied by the University’s senior staff. She welcomed the visiting delegation and affirmed that the proposed establishment of the Faculty of Medicine represents an important strategic step towards strengthening the University’s scientific standing and preparing medical professionals equipped with the skills and knowledge required to serve the community and contribute to the development of Iraq’s healthcare sector.

The visit included a field tour of the Iraq International Teaching Hospital, in addition to a number of the University’s facilities, ranging from lecture halls and scientific laboratories to infrastructure and supporting services. The committee assessed the University’s readiness to establish the Faculty in terms of technical facilities, as well as qualified teaching and administrative staff. Both sides also discussed a number of scientific and technical matters relating to academic accreditation standards and the requirements of the forthcoming stage.

The committee commended the high standard of organisation and planning at the University, as well as the comprehensive academic environment it provides, reflecting its ambitious vision for advancing higher education and enhancing the quality of scientific programmes in medicine and scientific research.

For her part, Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani expressed her appreciation to the committee for its support and efforts, affirming that the University is steadily progressing towards its goal of establishing the Faculty of Medicine. Furthermore, the proposed Faculty would represent a valuable addition to Iraq’s higher education system and a scientific institution dedicated to preparing female physicians capable of combining scientific competence with a strong sense of humanity.
