The Director of the Scientific Affairs Department at Al-Zahraa University for Women, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Husseini, participated in the international ministerial online workshop on the Horizon Europe Program, which was held in cooperation with international and research institutions specialized in European Union programs for scientific research and innovation for the period 2021–2027, with the participation of several Iraqi universities and academic institutions.
The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of the Horizon Europe Program as one of the world’s largest initiatives supporting research and innovation projects. It highlighted the program’s main objectives, key pillars, funding mechanisms, and opportunities for international academic and research collaboration, in addition to introducing researcher support programs, research fellowships, and international training opportunities.
The workshop also addressed the mechanisms for Iraqi universities to participate in European research projects, explaining the steps for accessing research calls, preparing scientific proposals, building international academic partnerships, and forming multidisciplinary research teams. It emphasized the importance of developing the research environment within Iraqi universities.
This participation aligns with the strategic vision of Al-Zahraa University for Women to strengthen academic openness and expand the horizons of international research cooperation, supporting and developing the scientific and research capacities of faculty members, researchers, and students, while opening broader opportunities for integration with global research programs and distinguished academic institutions.
