In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful “And say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” Scientific and academic development in modern universities is no longer limited to educational activities only; rather, it depends greatly on organizing and following up academic and scientific procedures in a way that ensures academic integrity and enhances the quality of higher education. From this perspective, the Department of Scientific Affairs at Al-Zahraa University for Women plays a vital role in supporting scientific and academic activities and developing the university environment according to approved academic standards. The Department of Scientific Affairs includes the Scientific Affairs Division, the University Journals Unit, and the Arab and International Students Division, which is responsible for following up the affairs of international female students coming from outside Iraq within the “Study in Iraq” program. The department also provides the necessary academic and administrative support to enhance scientific and cultural openness between the university and various Arab and foreign countries. The department works on organizing and holding scientific conferences, seminars, workshops, and specialized training courses in coordination with the university colleges. It also follows up scientific lectures and academic workshops in line with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. In addition, the department supervises scientific agreements and memoranda of understanding with local and international institutions and follows up their implementation, alongside processing academic promotion transactions according to approved regulations and standards. The department is also responsible for verifying the authenticity of Master’s and PhD certificates and evaluating academic qualifications and titles. It follows up scientific publications of faculty members and researchers in Scopus and Clarivate indexed journals, as well as reputable international and local journals. Furthermore, the department supervises scientific publication rewards and encourages researchers from inside and outside the university to publish in reputable journals. It also manages the university’s official academic accounts and scientific expertise systems. The department contributes to establishing research groups, strengthening scientific cooperation with reputable universities, and building academic relations with professors and researchers through visiting professor programs, which support scientific exchange and academic development within the university. In addition, the department supervises annual scientific plans of colleges and departments and monitors their implementation rates. It also follows up graduation projects and determines discussion committees in coordination with the concerned authorities. The department supports and approves the participation of faculty members, researchers, and senior staff in scientific activities inside and outside Iraq. It is also responsible for approving authored scientific books, laboratory manuals, and no-objection letters for lecturers and applicants to postgraduate studies. The University Journals Unit is responsible for following up and developing the university’s scientific journals according to academic standards and indexing requirements to support scientific publishing and strengthen academic quality within the university. Under the direct supervision and guidance of Professor Dr. Ali Jafer MAHDI Al-Hussaini, Director of the Department of Scientific Affairs, the department continues its efforts to improve scientific and academic work and enhance the quality of services provided in line with the university’s vision toward academic and institutional excellence.

About Department
"The Scientific Affairs Department at Al-Zahraa University for Women is considered a hub for scientific and research accomplishments, including scientific achievements, patents, and publications in reputable journals. Additionally, it encompasses various scientific aspects, such as granting academic titles to faculty members, monitoring scientific dedication, and awarding appreciation certificates and incentives to distinguished researchers. The department also oversees scientific activities and monitors progress in curriculum development and graduation projects in the university's colleges, in accordance with ministry directives. The department regularly updates its activities according to the government program. It is one of the departments overseen by the Assistant to the University President for Scientific Affairs, occupying a leading position in its scientific and research duties."
