A high-level committee from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research visited Al-Zahraa University for Women on Thursday, 3 August 2023, to assess the requirements for establishing the Al-Zahraa Medical and Pharmaceutical Research Centre.

The committee was received by Prof. Dr. Zuhair Mohammed Ali Al-Asadi, Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Husseini, Director of Scientific Affairs, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ghufran Mohammed Hussein, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

The ministerial committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Al-'Ameri, Director General of the Iraqi Centre for Cancer and Medical Genetics Research at Al-Mustansiriyah University, with Prof. Dr. Abd Al-Hadi Al-Rib’ie, Director of the Medical Research Unit at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, and Prof. Dr. Lubna Majeed, Director of the DNA Research Centre at the University of Babylon, serving as members.

The said visit aimed to evaluate all requirements for establishing the specialised research centre in the fields of medicine and pharmacy, as well as to review the modern and advanced laboratories and equipment available at the proposed centre and assess the scientific and research capabilities of its specialised academic staff.

The Committee Chair highlighted that establishing research centres equipped with advanced technologies and supported by specialised scientific expertise at Al-Zahraa University represents a significant step forward in strengthening Iraq’s scientific and research development. He further commended the University’s efforts and commitment to advancing scientific research.

During the visit, the committee inspected all laboratories designated for the proposed centre, as well as the medical sciences reference section provided by the University Library, in addition to several University facilities and halls.
