The event was attended by the Governor of Holy Karbala, Dr Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi, and the Chairman of the Karbala Provincial Council, Dr Qasim Al-Yasari, alongside an array of official, academic, and religious figures.
The ceremony featured a commemoration of prominent historical and national milestones, foremost among them the anniversary of the 15th of Khordad uprising, and paid tribute to the "Martyrs of Service". It also reviewed the principled stances of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whilst immortalising the sacrifices of the martyrs who defended the Islamic Republic throughout various historical stages, reinforcing the values of steadfastness and sacrifice for core principles.
In his speech, Governor Al-Khattabi pointed out the importance of reviving religious and national occasions that remember influential figures in the history of the Islamic nation. He praised the role of academic and cultural institutions in cementing values of awareness and openness, as well as fostering a spirit of cooperation and cultural communication.
For her part, Prof. Dr Al-Sultani affirmed that Imam Khomeini represents an integrated school of thought and struggle that combined profound religious scholarship with wise leadership, contributing to the consolidation of justice, human dignity, and the confrontation of challenges. She noted that his intellectual legacy continues to serve as an active and influential pillar in the pathways of awareness and change.
The university's presence at this event reflects its continuous keenness to participate actively in cultural forums, driven by its belief in the necessity of strengthening ties with partner institutions through fruitful academic engagement, and affirming ZUW's role in supporting occasions that revive noble humanitarian and missionary values.
