As the first private University specialising in female education, Al-Zahraa University for Women announced the formation of a specialised committee to conduct preliminary studies for Al-Zahraa Centre for Scientific Research.

In a pioneering precedent within private higher education in Iraq, Prof. Dr. Zainab Abd Al-Hussein Al-Sultani, the University President, revealed the initiation of the preliminary steps to launch Al-Zahraa Centre for Scientific and Medical Research project at the University’s main building.

Speaking to the official University website, the President stated: "The idea of establishing a specialised centre was recommended by a scientific committee comprising academics from the Faculty of Pharmacy. The initiative received great support and attention from His Eminence Al-Sheikh Abd Al-Mahdi Al-Karbalai, the Legitimate Overseer of the Affairs of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, who directly instructed the follow-up of administrative approvals and the preparation of the necessary halls and laboratories. Furthermore, the centre will be equipped with medical devices and supplies from reputable international manufacturers."

She further added: "The centre will provide diverse research services upon completion of the necessary ministerial, administrative, and logistical approvals required for its launch. This will position it as a prominent research centre in private education, serving as a beacon of hope for various academic groups in the near future."
