In an effort to enhance environmental awareness and strengthen sustainability concepts within the university campus, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Department of Media and Governmental Communication and the Department of Diwan Affairs / Agriculture Unit, and with active participation from various academic and administrative colleges and departments, organized an extensive environmental campaign under the slogan: “Plant it today, enjoy it tomorrow.”
The campaign involved large-scale afforestation activities across the university campus, including the planting of various seedlings and ornamental plants. It also aimed to raise environmental awareness regarding the importance of tree planting and its role in improving air quality and mitigating climate change impacts.
These efforts come in alignment with the university’s strategic directions to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to achieve a balance between academic advancement and environmental preservation.
It is worth noting that University of Al-Zahraa (PBUH) for Women has achieved a distinguished position in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025, as a result of adopting a set of developmental measures in the fields of energy, water, and waste management, in addition to expanding green spaces and supporting educational and research programs related to sustainability—reflecting its ongoing commitment to enhancing environmental standards and sustainable development practices.
