The Women’s Affairs Division in collaboration with the Centre for Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences Research organised a scientific workshop entitled “Waste Management and Recycling.” The said event was held under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Holy Imam Hussein Shrine and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the University President. Additionally, the workshop was delivered by Prof. Dr. Lama Majeed Ahmed, the Director of the Centre.

The workshop addressed the importance of waste management through modern scientific approaches, as well as the mechanisms of recycling and their role in reducing environmental pollution and promoting sustainability. It further emphasised raising environmental awareness among female students and encouraging the adoption of environmentally responsible practices within both the community and academic institutions.

It is worth mentioning that this event comes as part and parcel of a broader series of educational and scientific activities through which the University seeks to support environmental initiatives and foster a culture of sustainability within the academic community. It also reflects the University’s commitment to embedding environmental awareness among students and staff, and to encouraging practices that contribute to the reduction of pollution.
