Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the University President, accompanied by the senior staff conducted an official visit to the Iraqi University in Baghdad to explore mechanisms for advancing the education sector in accordance with contemporary frameworks. The visit aligns with Al-Zahraa University for Women’s strategic vision to enhance scientific collaboration and broaden academic engagement with Iraqi universities.
The delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Ali Saleh Al-Jubouri, the President of the Iraqi University, in the presence of a slew of senior academic staff. The formal reception reflected the depth of the academic relationship between the two institutions and their shared commitment to strengthening future avenues of scientific collaboration.
It is worth noting that the visit included an extensive round of discussions addressing ways and means to enhance academic and research collaboration between the two universities. Additionally, particular emphasis was placed on the exchange of teaching and research expertise, the development of joint academic programmes, the support of rigorous scientific research, and the promotion of publication in peer-reviewed journals in line with quality assurance and accreditation standards.
As part and parcel of the visit, a scientific and academic cooperation agreement was formally signed, encompassing several key topics, including the organisation of joint conferences and seminars, the delivery of specialised workshops and training courses, the activation of academic exchange programmes and scholarly visits, along with the expansion of cooperation in research supervision and joint research initiatives between academic staff and researchers at both institutions.
Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani noted that this visit forms part of the University’s broader vision to establish effective scientific partnerships with Iraqi universities, thereby contributing to the development of academic capacities and the enhancement of higher education quality. She further expressed her hope that the agreement would serve as a foundation for further productive collaborations.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Al-Jubouri emphasised that the agreement represents a significant strategic step towards academic openness and the integration of scientific efforts among Iraqi higher education institutions, highlighting their active role in advancing education and research, as well as their continued commitment to fostering a robust academic environment.
It bears noting that this visit comes within the framework of ZUW’s ongoing efforts to expand academic and scientific cooperation with Iraqi universities, in alignment with its vision to support research, facilitate knowledge exchange, and build impactful partnerships that contribute to the development of the academic environment and the enhancement of educational outcomes.
