Al-Zahraa University for Women inaugurated the activities of the University Psychological Counselling Week, organised by the University Psychological Counselling Division in cooperation with the Continuing Education Centre. Furthermore, the said event was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the University President.
The week commenced with a series of psychological counselling activities. Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani emphasised that counselling represents a fundamental pillar in addressing the challenges faced by students and that its responsibilities extend to all members of the University community. She further explained that this responsibility constitutes a religious and ethical commitment grounded in the values of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them). She also stressed that the University is committed to preparing a conscious generation through the support of female counsellors in providing psychological and educational support to female students. Besides, she expressed her hope that the week would constitute an important step towards enhancing awareness and developing counselling practices within the University.
For her part, Lect. Dr. Nesreen Ali Al-Jilawi, the Head of the University Psychological Counselling Division, delivered a speech emphasising that the organisation of the week forms part of a plan aimed at promoting a culture of counselling and providing a supportive environment that contributes to empowering female students and developing their skills in addressing challenges consciously and responsibly.
These activities represent a significant step towards supporting mental health programmes at the University and establishing counselling as an essential component of a sound and safe educational environment that enables female students to develop their capabilities and make informed decisions that enhance their academic and personal journeys.
