In celebration of the International Day of Mathematics, and under the auspices of the President of Karbala University: Prof. Basem Al-Saeedi, and the President of Al-Zahraa University for Women : Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the Department of Mathematics / College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala, in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics / College of Education at Al-Zahraa University for Women , the Karbala Education Directorate and the Charitable Al-Hussein Center (PBUH) held the third Mathematics Festival, on Tuesday corresponding to 3/14/2023, at Umm Abha Hall.
The festival was attended by a group of scholars, university presidents, deans, assistants, professors and researchers from various governorates of Iraq, and a group of female students.
The festival started with a fragrant recitation of the Holy Quran recited by Dr.: Muhammad Kadem Al-Mamoui, then reading Surat Al-Fatihah and a stand of honor for the martyrs of Iraq with the tones of the Iraqi national anthem.
The President of Al-Zahraa University: Prof. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani a speech in which she welcomed the attendees and explained the importance of the scientific gatherings held at the university and what it is contained of the intellectual and cultural exchange that makes it under the protection of the Holy Shrine and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Then the speech of the Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences at Karbala University : Prof. Hamida Aidan Salman, in which she spoke about this distinguished day that sheds light on scientific cooperation between universities based on the constant keenness to keep abreast of developments in this field.
In order to highlight the importance of the Department of the Mathematics at the university and the activities it organizes on various occasions, a video was shown about the Mathematics Department at Al-Zahraa University for Women.
The Dean of the College of Education at Al-Zahraa University: Prof. Dr. Iman Samir Bahiyeh explained a lecture entitled: (How does mathematics tell us about what happens at the crime scene?).
In conclusion, shields and certificates of thanks and appreciation were distributed to some of the participating and present figures in the festival. Then, they moved to Karbala University to attend the festival activities in the Department of Mathematics / College of Education for Banking Sciences.
