Al-Zahraa University for Women, in cooperation with the High Commission for Human Rights/National Office and the Human Rights Office in the holy Karbala Governorate, held a training course to raise awareness of human rights. The three-day course of 6 lectures included an introduction to the human rights concept, the global and national agreements and treaties that govern them, protection and implementation mechanisms thereof and citizen's role in their activation in addition to a set of exercises that consecrate fair practices that preserve human dignity. The course concluded by handing over certificates to the attendees. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, the University President, was honored for her exceptional efforts in promoting women's rights, chief among them the right to education. It is noteworthy that the University President, for her part, managed to shed light on the importance of the work being carried out by the commission and its role in human rights affirmation along with raising young people awareness to take up their leading roles and build up a stable and secure homeland.
