Central Library at Al-Zahraa University for Women increased its efforts to promote the “The Nation Reads” national competition, organized by Imam Hussein Holy Shrine in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in conjunction with the Ministry of Education. The initiative aimed to encourage cultural awareness and female students' involvement in national educational initiatives. The Library introduced a range of educational activities to support female students in their preparation for the competition. The activities included workshops on book selection strategies, intensive discussion sessions, as well as curated reading lists to assist participants at various competition stages. The initiative was undertaken in concordance with the University’s mission to promote a culture of reading and research, allowing female students to develop their intellectual capacities while engaging in significant cultural projects. Besides, such participation allows female students to broaden their critical thinking skills and contribute to the formation of a knowledge-driven society. It is important to point out that the “The Nation Reads” competition is one of the most notable cultural initiatives, launched by Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, focuses on fostering a reading habit in society, particularly among female students. Furthermore, the competition involves writing critical reports and summarizing selected books, with prizes awarded to distinguished participants. Such cooperation between academic institutions and national organizations supports the development of a well-read and informed generation. Moreover, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research stated that such initiatives significantly strengthened universities’ role in serving society and nurturing innovative and knowledgeable students. In addition, Al-Zahraa University for Women continues to support cultural and educational projects by providing the necessary resources for their success, reinforcing the University’s position as a leading academic institution committed to advancing knowledge and intellectual development.
