Under the aegis of the General Secretariat of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, an educational seminar was organized by Women’s Affairs Division at the University as part of the “16 Days Campaign to End Violence against Women.” The seminar was entitled “Violence against Women between Legal Legislation, Family Guidance and Religious Direction”. The said seminar was presented by Dr. Ahmed Al-Saffar and Asst. Lect. Ruqayya Ali.

     The seminar provided an explanation of women’s rights in Islam, the legal and religious legislations that safeguard these rights and the vital role of harmony and stability within family life in consolidation of societal well-being. It is noteworthy that the campaign lasts 16 days as part of a global effort to combat violence against women and girls. The campaign is held annually and begins on November 25, in observance of the annual anniversary of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and concludes on December 10, in commemoration of Human Rights Day.
