Under the aegis of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine along with the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University, Al-Zahraa Centre for Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences held a scientific seminar entitled "Green Chemistry for a Sustainable Environment". The seminar which was presented by Prof. Dr. Lama Majeed Ahmed, provided an introduction to green chemistry and the increasing efforts to develop and implement sustainability principles aimed at a balance between economic, environmental, as well as social dimensions. Furthermore, this approach seeks to meet present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to fulfill theirs, while improving manufacturing processes and reducing harmful environmental impacts via more sustainable processes and products. Moreover, social responsibility is a core principle upheld and enhanced by Al-Zahraa University for Women, through a variety of scientific and academic programs so as to bring about an environment that ensures a sustainable future for posterity.
