A delegation from the Central Library at Al-Zahraa University for Women visited the 7th Karbala International Children’s Book Fair, organised by the Department of Childhood Care and Development at Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, and held in the Bayn Al-Haramayn area.

The visit aimed to explore the latest publications and intellectual works dedicated to children, and to learn about educational and cultural experiences that contribute to building awareness and developing the capacities of young generations, in line with the University’s vision of promoting a culture of reading and knowledge.

The delegation toured the exhibition halls, which hosted over 47 publishing houses from ten Arab and Islamic countries, and reviewed the most prominent titles on display across various fields including education, literature, science, and children’s stories.

The University delegation affirmed that such events provide an important cultural platform for instilling authentic educational and intellectual values, praising the efforts of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine in organising exhibitions dedicated to children’s intellectual and spiritual development. They also commended the guidance of Prof. Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abaiji, the General Secretary of the Holy Shrine, emphasising the importance of protecting children from the negative influences of social media and directing them toward meaningful sources of knowledge.

It bears noting that this participation by the Central Library of the University reflects its ongoing commitment to developing cultural and library programmes and strengthening cooperation with academic and cultural institutions within Iraq and abroad.
