Asst. Lect. Fareed Mohammed Fawaz Qabbani, published research in the Journal of Natural Science, Biology and Medicine (indexed in Scopus)
that explored the efficacy of a hydrogel formulation containing lidocaine and moxifloxacin in combating bacterial infections. It is noteworthy that Hydrogel bases are widely preferred for treating burns and wounds due to their potential to aid tissue repair.
On the other hand, Moxifloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic, was a key component of the formulation .The research aimed to evaluate the impact of polymer type and concentration on the drug release profile in vitro. The results showed that a formulation incorporating 1.5% Carbopol 940 and triethanolamine provided the most consistent and sustained release of active ingredients, making it an ideal substance for application on wounds and burns.
