The English Language Department at the Faculty of Education in collaboration with the Continuous Learning Unit at Al-Zahraa University for Women organised a discussion session entitled “Contemporary Issues in Translation” on Sunday, 18 December 2022, at 9:30 a.m., held in the Umm Abiha Hall of the University.

The University hosted two lecturers: Prof. Dr. Kadhim Al-Ali (University of Basrah) and Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Manna (Khalifa Bin Hamad University, Qatar). The session addressed 25 key questions concerning the field of translation, which Prof. Al-Ali thoroughly discussed. For his part, Prof. Al-Manna managed to shed light on the theory of complex thinking, highlighting its implications for the translation process and its influence on translators’ approaches.

At the seminar's conclusion, an open discussion session was held, during which the audience posed questions and offered comments. Prof. Al-Ali further presented a selection of his publications as gifts to the University library, faculty members, and female students, in a gesture aimed at disseminating knowledge and fostering scholarly benefit.

It is noteworthy that this session came as part and parcel of the academic activities series organised by the Continuous Learning Unit in collaboration with the Department.
