Under the auspicious of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, and with the supervision of the President of Al-Zahraa University for Women and the administration of the Dean of the College of Education, the Department of Mathematics organized its fourth annual festival marking World Mathematics Day.

The event was held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the central hall of the University of Karbala, in collaboration with the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala, the Karbala Education Directorate, the Open College of Education, and the Imam Hussein Charitable Center for Development and Education.

The festival carried the slogan “Mathematics for All” and was attended by mathematics professors from various Iraqi universities. The program included welcoming remarks by Prof. Dr. Basim Nael, President of the University of Karbala; Prof. Dr. Iman Sameer Bahiya, Dean of the College of Education at Al-Zahraa University for Women; and Prof. Dr. Hameeda Idan Salman, Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala.

The event also featured a video presentation highlighting the activities of the Mathematics Departments at both the University of Karbala and Al-Zahraa University, followed by three scientific lectures delivered by Prof. Dr. Iman Sameer Bahiya, Prof. Dr. Mahdi Sadiq Al-Tabatabai, and Dr. Hassan Muzhir Rasheed. An exhibition showcasing students’ projects from the Department of Mathematics, College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Karbala, was also inaugurated.

The festival concluded with a spiritual visit by participants to the shrines of Imam Hussein and his brother Abu Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon them).
