Al-Zahraa University for Women in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior/ Directorate of Relations and Media / Office of the Minister organised an educational and awareness-raising workshop entitled “Youth: A Journey between Formation, Fracture, and Deviance”, framed through psychological, social, cultural, and security-oriented perspectives. Additionally, the said event was under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Holy Imam Hussein Shrine, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the University President.
The workshop was delivered by Asst. Lect.Ali Mohsen Jassim, the First Lieutenant, who addressed the principal challenges confronting adolescents within society, alongside the psychological, social, and cultural repercussions that may contribute to deviance or personal breakdown. In parallel, he outlined mechanisms conducive to fostering constructive development and consolidating ethical and national values.
The session further examined a range of factors influencing the behaviour of this group, including the family environment, the nature of social relationships, and economic pressures, in addition to the impact of media and social networking platforms. It is worth mentioning that emphasis was placed on the pivotal role of education in nurturing individual capacities and directing them towards positive and productive trajectories.
Furthermore, Mr. Haider Al-Baseer delivered a complementary awareness workshop aimed at reinforcing moral values across various dimensions of social life. He further highlighted the necessity of engaging critically with rapid societal transformations and making sound decisions that contribute to the intellectual and cultural advancement of society, while mitigating the challenges faced by individuals.
It bears noting that this initiative comes as part and parcel of a series of awareness programmes that the University is committed to organising, with the objective of promoting intellectual and cultural consciousness among female students and cultivating informed, proactive individuals capable of contributing effectively to societal development, in alignment with the institution’s academic and educational mission.
