In line with the College of Engineering and Information Technology's commitment to fostering integration between theory and practice, the Cybersecurity Engineering Department organized a field trip for first-year students to the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon. The trip was supervised by the department head, Dr. Mohammed Jassim Al-Khafaji, and included the participation of the head of the Digital Design Department, Dr. Abdullah Al-Obaidi.
The delegation was welcomed by Dr. George, who gave a presentation on the technical infrastructure. This was followed by a tour of the computer center, where they learned about the server system's structure, business operations, and storage systems, with a focus on reliability and high availability.
The visit also included a tour of the university's central server rooms, where a detailed explanation was provided on data center management, cooling systems, and the cybersecurity controls implemented to protect data and ensure service continuity.
Furthermore, the vital role of solar energy systems in supporting system operation and their integration with backup power systems was highlighted, emphasizing how this enhances the efficiency and sustainability of the digital infrastructure.
This trip contributed to enhancing the students’ practical understanding and increased their readiness for the demands of the labor market in the fields of information technology, through direct exposure to real work environments.
