When Female Students Tell the Story: A Media Initiative from the College of Engineering to the University

In a step aimed at harnessing young talent and opening new horizons for creativity, the Media and Government Communication Division at the College of Engineering and Information Technology has launched an initiative in collaboration with the University’s Media Department. The initiative seeks to train and prepare a number of female students for careers in media, particularly in on-camera presentation, with the goal of enhancing the production of promotional materials and highlighting university activities and achievements.

The initiative stems from a vision that regards female students as partners in creating university content, rather than merely recipients of it. By providing them with genuine opportunities to develop their talents, the initiative aims to transform their passion for media into practical skills that contribute to serving the university and strengthening its media presence.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ghazwan Al-Masoudi, Head of the University’s Media Department, who discussed the importance of youth media and its role in shaping contemporary media discourse. He emphasized that involving female students in media work provides an important opportunity to gain experience, develop skills, and cultivate a sense of responsibility.

Rabab Taqi, Head of the College’s Media Division, also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the College’s Media Division and the University’s Media Department. Such collaboration provides a shared platform for expanding media coverage of university activities while identifying, supporting, and refining students’ talents in on-camera presentation, digital media, and content creation.

The initiative aims to establish the foundation of a student media team equipped with the tools of visual storytelling, communication, and creative thinking. This team will contribute to showcasing academic and student activities, innovations, and university events through a youthful approach that keeps pace with digital platforms and gives university achievements a stronger and more impactful presence.
