The Department of Radiology and Sonography Techniques at Al-Zahraa University for Women organised a scientific seminar on laser applications in the medical field. The said event comes as part and parcel of a series of scientific seminars launched by the Faculty of Health and Medical Techniques. The seminar was attended by female students of the department, highlighting the significance of its multiple applications due to the efficacy of this radiation, which surpasses other technologies.
The seminar was delivered by Asst. Lect. Shahad Haider, a faculty member at the University, included a definition of lasers, their types, and their uses in various domains, including the medical field, while noting the risks and improper methods of application according to scientific standards. It is noteworthy that laser technology is an advanced science integrated into numerous applications, including medicine, communications, scientific research, engineering, and military fields. Additionally, any user of this radiation, regardless of their specialisation, requires an understanding of the working principles of laser physics.
