“What Is the Span of My Wing?” Cultural Program Organized by Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division
With the advent of the blessed month of goodness, transformation, and self-development, and in conformity with the vision of Al-Zahraa University for Women to intellectually and culturally enlighten its female students, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division organized an interactive cultural program titled "What Is the Span of My Wing?”. The said event took place on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in Umm Abiha Hall. The program commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Dr. Muhammad Kazem Al-Ma’mouri, followed by a statement of Dr. Nasreen Al-Jilaiwi, Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division. Subsequently, Engineer Shahad Ahmed conducted a workshop titled "What Is the Span of My Wings?” in which she explored the concept of freedom and its values. The workshop covered fundamental aspects of freedom, including rebellion and defiance, submission and obedience, and the question of whether human beings are truly free. It also examined the extent of freedom, the existence of absolute freedom, and the distinction between freedom and choice. Furthermore, the discussion addressed whether freedom was solely material, whether slavery was limited to the physical body, and the foundations of intellectual and ideological freedom from a Western perspective. The workshop concluded with an exploration of the basis of intellectual freedom in Islam, founded upon two key pillars; namely God and Man. At the end of the program, a thought-provoking question related to the workshop was posed to the attending students, followed by the distribution of prizes to the winners.
