Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, participated in the fifth edition of the Outstanding Female Students Competition for Iraqi Universities. The said event was adopted by the Women’s Media Division of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine. Additionally, the event was held at Sayyid Al-Awsiya Hall within Imam Hussein Holy Shrine. It is worth mentioning that the event was attended by Al-Sheikh Abd Al-Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, the Legitimate Overseer of the Affairs of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, and Prof. Hassan Rashid Al-Abayechi, the Secretary-General of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine.
The ceremony featured a range of activities and presentations. In his address, Al-Sheikh Al-Karbalaei emphasised that the objective of such competitions extends beyond awarding prises, stating that the greater purpose lies in building individuals capable of creating successful lives through two fundamental pillars: knowledge and education. He further highlighted the importance of both religious and specialised academic sciences, noting that knowledge is regarded as the foundation of all goodness. Besides, he affirmed the Holy Shrine’s commitment to supporting and expanding such initiatives in the coming years.
In the same context, Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani expressed her support for women’s activities and programmes that contribute to strengthening women’s character in accordance with ethical values that promote religious, doctrinal, and academic development. She stressed the importance of applying these values in reform-oriented practices within and beyond educational institutions, particularly as female graduates transition into professional life, given the vital role women play in shaping society.
The University Presidency delegation accompanying the President included Dr. Huda Al-Ameedi, Head of the Department of Arabic Language, and Dr. Saba Al-Khafaji, Head of the Department of Mathematics. At the conclusion of the event, all participants were honoured with Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of their active participation.
