Al-Zahraa University for Women welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for student Activities Affairs, as part of a broader initiative to support student engagement in cultural, artistic, and volunteer activities. The visit reflects the Ministry’s commitment to fostering creativity and promoting student involvement across Iraq’s universities.
The delegation was warmly received by the University President, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, along with the Administrative Assistant, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Qazzaz. Discussions during the visit focused on strategies for developing student activities and enhancing university participation in national projects that promote creativity and social responsibility.
In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani affirmed the University’s ongoing role in advancing volunteerism, noting that Al-Zahraa University has consistently worked to strengthen student engagement, especially in the field of community service. She also praised the pivotal role of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in supporting these efforts and emphasized the essential contribution of women to societal growth and progress.
As part of the visit, the university presented a model of the annual “Creativity Shield” – an award given to one outstanding student each year in recognition of her artistic and creative excellence. Designed by university faculty member prof. Mr. Hussein Al-Qaraawi, the shield reflects deep symbolic meaning tied to the university’s values and mission.
The visit concluded with the announcement of new divisions for volunteer, artistic, and cultural initiatives, aimed at further empowering students to explore their talents. Discussions also included a presentation of the proposed project “Enriching the Visual Space for Marketing Iraqi Artists’ Work,” which seeks to encourage universities to acquire and display works by Iraqi artists—an initiative guided by the directives of the Minister of Higher Education to support Iraq’s cultural and artistic movement.
