On the occasion of the International Day of Mathematics, the Iraqi Al-Khwarizmi Association in Al-Diwaniyah organized special activities for this event, inviting a distinguished group of educational and academic figures from Iraqi universities. Al-Zahraa University for Women, represented by the College of Education / Department of Mathematics, responded to the invitation.

 

The university’s delegation included the Assistant Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Mohammed Al-Maamouri, and the Head of the Mathematics Department, Dr. Saba Al-Khafaji.

 

The festival featured diverse contributions from mathematics students across various universities, as well as high school students, including a theatrical and historical performance embodying the personality of Al-Khwarizmi, poetry recitations, and a book exhibition showcasing mathematical works by various authors.

 

Students of the Mathematics Department at Al-Zahraa University for Women also presented models, posters, and manuscripts related to the field of mathematics.

 

It is noteworthy that the designation of an International Day of Mathematics aims to highlight the essential role of mathematical sciences in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
