Under the auspices of the esteemed President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, and the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the Faculty of Education, the Department of English Language organised a workshop entitled “Interdisciplinary Literary Theories”, delivered by Asst. Lect. Nadia Abd Al-Kareem Abbas.
The workshop presented some of the latest theories in the field of literary criticism, including Digital Humanities, Game Theory, Network Theory, Human Information Behaviour, and the Information Search Process Theory.
The lecturer discussed the rationale for adopting theories from other disciplines, as well as the major challenges that researchers face when applying such frameworks within literary studies.
The session concluded with the presentation of a fourth-year graduation project by student Salma Maytham, supervised by the lecturer, which applied one of these theories. Remarkably, this project is considered the first of its kind internationally.
The workshop concluded with a productive discussion in which participants actively engaged with the presented ideas. The lecturer responded thoroughly to all questions, offering detailed clarifications.
