The Department of Special Education at the College of Education, Al-Zahraa University (PBUH) for Women, in cooperation with the Rehabilitation and Employment Division, organized a field trip to the Imam Al-Hussain (PBUH) Institute for Autism and Speech Disorders as part of its efforts to enhance students’ practical skills.
The visiting delegation included the Head of the Department of Special Education, Assist. Prof. Dr. Riham Hussein Mohammed, along with a number of faculty members and a group of students from various academic stages.
The delegation was received by the Director of the Institute, Ms. Zainab Aboud Jabr, and the specialized staff. She expressed her pleasure at the visit and emphasized the importance of strengthening mutual cooperation between the institute and the department. She also highlighted future opportunities to host students for practical training, particularly for second- and third-year students, in addition to field training and participation in the department’s scientific activities.
During the visit, the delegation toured the institute’s facilities, which include specialized buildings designed according to different types of disorders, such as the Autism Disorders Building, the Behavioral Modification Unit, and the Speech and Communication Disorders Unit. The visitors were also introduced to the methods and mechanisms used in the care and rehabilitation of children.
This visit reflects the College of Education’s commitment to integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience and preparing students to meet the demands of the labor market in the field of special education.
