Under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, the  Faculty of Pharmacy – Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Industry, in cooperation with the Department of Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants, organized a scientific symposium titled:

“From Nature to Laboratory: How Alternative Therapies Shape the Future of Medicine and the Pharmaceutical Industry.”

The symposium featured two insightful lectures delivered by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hashem Al-Rifai and Asst. Dr. Karrar Al-Sa’beri, focusing on the significance of alternative medicine and its growing role in modern healthcare. The discussions also highlighted the process of transforming natural herbal extracts into safe and effective treatments that meet patients’ needs and advance the pharmaceutical industry.

Prof. Dr. Noor Hatif Al-Dabbagh, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, emphasized the importance of this scientific event in enhancing students’ and researchers’ awareness of the latest innovations in alternative therapies, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application in modern laboratories. She also commended the high scientific level of the lecturers and the depth of the information presented.

Such activities serve as an important platform for developing the skills of students and academic staff, providing opportunities for the exchange of expertise with researchers and specialists. They also reflect the university’s pioneering role in fostering an advanced educational and research environment that contributes to preparing qualified cadres capable of advancing the medical and pharmaceutical sectors at both the national and regional levels.
