The Central Library of Al-Zahraa University (peace be upon her) for Women received a delegation from the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, represented by Al-Wafi Foundation / Documentation Department, which presented the “Encyclopedia of the Fatwa of Defense” as a scholarly gift to the library, in support of its research mission and to enhance its documentary resources. The delegation was received by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Zuhair Mohammed Ali Jadoua, along with the administration of the Central Library.
During the visit, the delegation reviewed the content and main themes of the encyclopedia, explaining that it is a comprehensive documentary encyclopedic work dedicated to collecting and studying the text of the fatwa issued by the Supreme Religious Authority, along with the accompanying statements and positions. The work also documents its jurisprudential, intellectual, national, and social dimensions, as well as the consequences that resulted from it during a critical period in Iraq’s contemporary history.
The encyclopedia includes analytical studies, historical documents, and verified testimonies that highlight the societal response to the fatwa and its role in protecting the country and defending its sanctities, making it a solid academic reference for researchers and those interested in religious and national affairs.
For his part, the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Zuhair Mohammed Ali Jadoua, praised this cultural initiative, stressing the importance of enriching the Central Library with specialized sources that support academic research and enhance students’ historical and intellectual awareness, in line with the university’s academic and educational mission.
This step reflects fruitful cooperation between academic institutions and holy shrines and comes within ongoing efforts to preserve national memory and reinforce religious and intellectual values. It represents a valuable addition to the Central Library’s collections, contributing to providing researchers with access to accurate and reliable sources and reinforcing the university’s leading role in scientific research and the promotion of cultural and intellectual awareness.
