Programming and Innovation… The Communications and Mobile Computing Engineering Department launches a MATLAB course to enhance students’ skills
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ghaidaa Al-Mulla, Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, the Communications and Mobile Computing Engineering Department launched a specialized training course titled “Programming Using MATLAB” aimed at developing students’ skills in analysis and programming using the MATLAB environment for scientific and technical applications related to their fields.
The course runs for five days in the College’s laboratories and classrooms and is presented by: the Dean, Professor Dr. Ghaidaa Al-Mulla; Head of the Communications and Mobile Computing Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Yahya Al-Khuzaei; and Lecturer Abdullah Al-Obaidi.
The course began with installing MATLAB on the students’ computers, ensuring it was fully functional, introducing the main interface, and explaining navigation between different windows, such as the command window, workspace, and file folder.
The first two days, taught by Lecturer Abdullah Al-Obaidi, included entering and executing commands, understanding result displays, creating and managing variables, and performing basic calculations.
The program also trained students on using built-in functions and accessing MATLAB’s help and documentation system for detailed guidance.
In the upcoming stages, the course will cover advanced topics, including matrix operations, data analysis, and creating graphs using MATLAB, further enhancing the students’ readiness for practical applications in communications and mobile computing.
