Student Innovation at “Eye of Life”… a Smart Project for Tracking Student Attendance Draws Attention
Within the atmosphere of innovation at the Eye of Life Festival, a distinguished participation emerged from two students of the College of Engineering and Information Technology at Al-Zahra University (peace be upon her). They presented a pioneering technical project at the university booth, embodying the spirit of digital transformation and reflecting advanced specialized skills in cybersecurity.
Students Ghadir Hussein Mayeh, Malak Riyadh Abdul-Hurr, Hadeel Kazem Jawad, and Zainab Farhan Radi, third-year Cybersecurity Engineering students, presented an electronic student attendance registration system. This smart digital system relies on QR Code technology to document attendance with high accuracy, incorporating verification mechanisms to prevent tampering or impersonation, and can operate offline, ensuring efficient execution and fast processing within classrooms.
The project represents an important practical step toward digitizing the university environment and facilitating student data management, with scalability for application in other educational institutions. The initiative received praise from attendees and technology enthusiasts, demonstrating that students are capable of producing real-world solutions that meet the demands of the digital age and support institutional development.
