Under the patronage of the President of Al-Zahraa University (PBUH) for Women, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Prof. Dr. Iman Sameer Bahiyya, the Department of English at the College of Education, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a scientific workshop entitled “The Role of Language in Combating Violent Extremism.”

The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Israq Saad Muzal and third-year student Hadeel Jaafar, who discussed the role language plays in shaping social awareness and the impact of linguistic discourse in confronting extremist ideas and limiting their spread. The presenters also highlighted the importance of employing language as a tool for promoting the values of moderation and tolerance.

The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members and students from the Department of English, who actively engaged with the topics of the workshop through discussions and scholarly interventions that enriched the subject.

This workshop is part of the scientific activities regularly organized by the Department of English to develop students’ intellectual and linguistic awareness and to reinforce the role of academic institutions in addressing contemporary intellectual and social issues.
