Under the patronage of the President of Al-Zahraa University (PBUH) for Women, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Prof. Dr. Iman Sameer Bahiya, the Department of Special Education, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Warmth of Motherhood,” delivered by Dr. Haifa Mahmoud Al-Ashqar.
The seminar addressed the importance of emotional warmth in shaping a child’s personality and ensuring psychological stability, highlighting the role of the hormone oxytocin in fostering a sense of security, in contrast to the negative effects of stress and emotional neglect on child development.
It also reviewed different attachment styles in children and presented a set of practical strategies for mothers, such as hugging, active listening, and purposeful play, while emphasizing the importance of balancing warmth with discipline in parenting.
Furthermore, the seminar stressed the importance of mothers maintaining their own mental well-being and their ability to manage daily stress, given its direct impact on creating a stable and supportive family environment, thereby contributing to raising a confident and psychologically balanced generation.
