As part of its continuous efforts to enhance the academic and practical competencies of its students, the College of Education at Al-Zahraa University (peace be upon her) for women organized a three-day specialized training course entitled “How to Pronounce English Words Correctly.” The course was delivered by the faculty member Assistant Lecturer Safaa Abdulrasool Al-Saadi.

The course aimed to develop students’ phonological competence and refine their ability to produce accurate and fluent pronunciation. It provided an in-depth explanation of systematic approaches to reading words correctly based on established linguistic principles. In addition, students were trained on how to effectively use dictionaries as essential tools for identifying correct pronunciation.

Furthermore, the course addressed the concept of phonetic transcription, a scientific system that employs phonetic symbols to represent speech sounds with precision. This approach enables learners to recognize subtle sound distinctions and achieve accurate pronunciation independent of conventional spelling.

The course witnessed active participation from the department’s students, who demonstrated strong engagement with its content, reflecting their commitment to improving their language proficiency and meeting contemporary academic demands.
