As part of its ongoing scientific activities aimed at enhancing psychological awareness and developing professional skills, the College of Health and Medical Technologies at Al-Zahraa University for Women organized a workshop titled “Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).” The session was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Samar Ali Mahmoud from the Department of Anesthesia, under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Zainab Al-Sultani, and the supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Al-Khafaji, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Center.
The workshop introduced Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a contemporary approach in psychotherapy that focuses on accepting thoughts and emotions rather than resisting them, while committing to personal values. This approach supports the development of psychological flexibility and enhances individuals’ ability to cope effectively with life’s challenges and stressors.
The session witnessed active engagement from attendees, highlighting the practical applications of this therapeutic approach and its importance in supporting mental health, particularly within academic and professional environments.
This workshop is part of a series of scientific initiatives organized by the College to strengthen students’ knowledge and skills, while promoting awareness of effective strategies for managing psychological stress.
